Plant Health Care Program
Why do I need this program?
To protect your investment. Trees and shrubs represent a considerable long-term investment in your property. With proper care, these plants can increase property value and provide beautiful surroundings. Insects and diseases create stress on trees and shrubs year after year, decreasing your plants vitality and beauty.
How does the program work?
First we will come to your property to do an initial inspection and give you an estimate based on your specific needs. Then a soil sample will be taken to determine any potential nutrient deficiencies. Then we will begin your customized plan with scheduled inspections and treatments by an ISA Certified Arborist. After each inspection we will provide you with a written report, outlining the treatments performed and our observations and recommendations.
What if I sign up in the middle of the year?
We will pro-rate the plan based on a shortened schedule, and offer an option for renewal at the end of the year.
How much does it cost?
Unlike many other companies each plan is customized to your property’s needs based on the plants on site, their susceptibility to insects and disease as well as your budget.
What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?
IPM is an ongoing process of monitoring, diagnosing, and treating insect and disease problems on a routine basis. We create a custom program of scheduled visits (4-12 per year) to address your individual needs.
What do I have to do?
Nothing. You have put your trees and shrubs in the hands of professionals. We will only do what is needed and keep you informed of the treatments provided while operating within our agreed upon budget and schedule.
What makes us different?
First of all, we are Virginia natives, so we know the trees and shrubs of Virginia better than any national company could. We are tree and shrub experts, not a grass maintenance company who claims to know about tree and shrub maintenance. All of our inspections and treatments are performed by an ISA Certified Arborist who is educated in the biology of trees and shrubs, life cycles of insects and diseases and know how to best address these issues. Our Plant Health Care Technicians are able to quickly asses your trees and shrubs, and make educated decisions on how to best manage your plants using the most effective and environmentally safe products. We use state of the art equipment allowing us to quickly, safely, and effectively care for your trees and shrubs. Unlike other programs, we will limit the amount of spray treatments through a targeted approach, this allows us to get effective control while using approximately 90% less chemicals on your property. The timing of treatments is crucial to effectively manage pest population while minimizing the use of chemicals. Our experts are always available via phone or e-mail to handle your questions and concerns.
Additional treatments can be added to a your program, such as:
Anti-Desiccants (reduce winter damage on evergreen shrubs)
Deer Repellent
Root Collar Excavations (Expose the root collar of trees to proper grade and prune girdling roots)
Root Zone Aeration (A process designed to improve the health of trees by oxygenating the soil and increasing nutrient and water uptake)
Dormant Season Pruning (Recommended for most Ornamental shrubs to increase light and air circulation to the interior of the plant)
